Xander knew how high school worked. She was beautiful, and popular, and always well-dressed. He was poor and nerdy, his jokes his only power. Cordelia was way out of Xander’s league.

But the coach thought the swim team could make it this year. And she’d been impressed by him earlier, despite the throat-clutching horror of his three gorgeous girls seeing him in a Speedo.

They made out after Xander’s swimming practice. Cordelia ran crimson nails down his pecs. “So, have these muscles always been here, or did you finally hit puberty?”

Xander smiled. Maybe he was entering the big leagues.
