So, the Doctor Who special!

...Frankly, I was disappointed. The plot was incoherent, and the pacing was horrible: I can see what they were going for, with the rushing about in between random, still character moments, but it didn’t work for me.

On the other hand, there was some delicious, delicious fanservice. And anything with the John-Simm!Master in it has a good chance of making me smile. And drool.

Simm looks surprisingly good as a bottle-blond, in a scruffy sort of way. And OMG the straitjacket! The collar! The leash! The leash was what got me. And the part where he was strapped down with that heavy-duty gag. He looked so pleased to be tied up, too – switch!Master, anyone?

*dies again, remembering*

I wish to watch that again without my parents in the room.

And the Time Lords! I am so pleased the Time Lords are back. I’d almost rather have some more crazed victorious!Time Lord – I thought The Waters of Mars made perfect sense, as Ten’s God complex and issues with losing people mixed together. But the Time Lords were a highlight of old Who and I’m pleased as punch to see those ridiculous collars again.

Hamlet was purely and simply made of win. I heart that play so bloody hard.

And now for something completely different – here is a link to a site called Secret Sales. Basically they have sales of designer products – mostly clothes, but bags, homeware, bath stuff, jewellery, lingerie etc all make an appearance – with massive discounts. We’re talking in the realm of ‘I bought my housemate Violet a dress for Christmas that costs £80 in Knightsbridge, and could get her earrings as well.’

Full disclosure: if somebody signs up from that link and buys something, I get a £5 voucher, so obviously I’m not entirely lacking bias. But I do love that website. If you – like me, and most of us – can’t afford to go there/buy its things regularly, there’s a page where you can sign up for reminder emails of specific sales. (Every sale lasts about ten days, but I advise you to get there during the first two.)

They actually have clothes for people above size 12. The stuff is gorgeous, and well-made, for the price of ‘cheap and cheerful’ – which is why I never buy lingerie anywhere else these days. (Okay, aside from the occasional stop in Camden.)

Clearance sales are on now, so it’s a good time to sign up. Hope to see you over there. :)
