Belated Azkatraz squee

lokifan_importBack from Norwich! And now I shall tell you all about Azkatraz instead of the shared ridiculousness that is me and my flatmates.
Okay! So I shared withlavillanueva, bewarethesmirk and tray_la_la. Which was ridiculously awesome. Smirk dresses a lot like me, and EXACTLY like me a few years ago, which was cool but weird. Tray is extremely beautiful and clever and funny. But then you are all very gorgeous, I feel cheated: the internet promised me its denizens were all ugly old men! And Lav is all cool and classic-dresses-wearing and I CAN’T BELIEVE I ACTUALLY MET HER IN PERSON AT LONG BLOODY LAST.
It was so fun to meet so many people. I was uncharacteristically quiet meetingravenna_c_tan, because if I knew if I opened my mouth I’d just go SQUEEEEEE. I met potteresque_ire, who gives the BEST HUGS EVER and is hilarious and adorable. And melusina_hp and son_of_darkness and woldy and lizardspots and draykonis and dramedy and lesyeuxverts00 and nuclearsugars and abusing_sarcasm. And sesheta_66, who brought a most excellent book for people to sign/write/draw in, and alaana_fair, who is in fact as nice as the hype would have you believe. accioscar was very cool: “you’ve got art coming out of your arse!” was one of the best lines of the con.
This happened at the H/D Meet Up, which was also where we played a game keeping up red and green balloons. Whichever balloon dropped first (Green = Draco, Red = Harry, natch) had to bottom. And I popped the Harry balloon by accident, when it caught on the sprinkler on the ceiling. Draco!balloon was left to come slowly down the wall.
alaana_fair: You made Harry pop!
son_of_darkness: Draco, why are you grinding against the wall! Dirty, dirty boy!
It was a good time. :D
We got very drunk very often, which was lots of fun. The hangovers were less fun (although it made being too young to drink in California something of a blessing, because I’m also too young to get really hideous hangovers). And I displayed how I lose the ability to kiss when I’m totally smashed. *shamefaced* I WILL SNOG YOU ALL AGAIN WHEN I’M SOBER.
The panels were also extremely cool. The most fun was The People Vs J K Rowling, which I went to withpotteresque_ire. Pie’s presence made it even more hilarious, and you’ll be pleased to know that JKR was convicted of fraud (for claiming she had a coherent, satisfying, preplanned ending) and the corruption of a minor (for the weird morality of the Potterverse). She was sentenced to nine months of camping. :)
The Dark Side! This was a roundtable run bymelusina_hp, and one of the calmest and most well-run bits of programming I went to. Lots of intelligent talk, that made me want to write lots and lots of darkfic. And hug everyone. (I am fundamentally no good at being emo or Dark. If I were a character in an epic fantasy, I could not be the Brooding Hero or the Sexy Villainess – but then these positions are taken admirably by my friend Country Boy, and melusinahp. I would be the amusing sidekick who screams in the face of danger and runs away.)
Also loved Femme Vs Slash, but I think that’s a separate post because I want to add a bit of my own thinky thoughts, and this is a squee thing. :D
Got to see HBP again, this time surrounded by slashers. Which was awesome, because this time when Snape wallslammed Draco I could be all “oooh!” and everyone understood and shared the joy. :D
In summary: twas AWESOME and totally worth the pain of overdraft. I’m saving up for Infinitus!
