Diacon Alley: gush tiem

I am at long last able to do things like comment and add people. Which is blissful. I am adding Diacon people and shamelessly stalking their Diacon posts.
Which so far has been a blissful experience. Everyone seems to have had a blast :D
This is still not my, er, ‘official’ Diacon post. It is very long though.
I am so, so happy with how things went, you guys. So happy. The rest of the committee wins at life. And so does everyone who came, I think. A couple of days before the con,
mokatiki and I were on the phone discussing the pub quiz and having a little freak-out. And I pointed out that we felt like everyone was going to show up looking for flaws and be like WHAT THE FUCK YOU HAVE BEEN DEFEATED BY COMPUTER FAILS THIS SUCKS. When in fact everyone was looking to have fun, and would be looking to get into it and enjoy themselves instead of judging.
Which was way more true than I believed at the time. The atmosphere at Diacon was consistently fantastic, and everyone was looking to meet their friends and make new ones and just have a bloody good time. We were so lucky. The size of Diacon really worked for it in the end: one-track programming, so there wasn’t any filler and things were specifically aimed at the sort of fans who wanted to come (that’s my impression, anyway); and small enough that everyone could get to know each other a bit and not feel too overwhelmed.
I’m just so pleased, you guys. And right now I’m looking over my programme, which lots of lovely people signed for me or wrote notes in, and kind of simultaneously weeping and squeeing.
I don’t think I’ve ever had this much con-drop. But that is okay, because the memories of Diacon will outlast it -- already have.
The Victory Ball was genuinely one of my best nights ever. I was anxious right beforehand; it was the last thing that could go wrong. But it didn’t! The room looked beautiful. The food was delicious. (Seriously, even though it was expensive, I was not expecting such good food. Much better than at similar events I’ve been to.) The band sounded fantastic and SO MANY PEOPLE DANCED, IT WAS AWESOME. People looked gorgeous - so many pretty dresses and fantastic costumes and sparkly capes. I got a dance with one incredibly hot blond (oh Captain Kabal) and various hot brunettes and redheads ;) Afterwards a bunch of us hung out and got kinda drunk.
So yes, Victory Ball? Best ever. And
creatore_magico captured it on tape:
*squishes Ku* I’m so grateful you made it for us. (And with such super-speed, too!) It’s a gorgeous vid and captures the atmosphere so well, and I’m just so happy to have it for posterity.
Also, my mum thinks it’s lovely.

Date: 2011-08-05 12:52 pm (UTC)The food was surprisingly good, and the wine (after we overdrew The Riddle into TOM Riddle) was more than drinkable ;) Too bad the bottle didn't make it into the vid... :D
