Authors Notes: The current prompt at
open_on_sunday is can. Since that’s nice and easy, and my parents visited me yesterday, I decided it was a good time to indulge myself and write drabbles featuring some favourite Buffyverse rarepairs.
Darla/Dru - Queens
Angelus can be infuriating, but he has his moments. He has William whimpering into the carpet, his eyes wet, his mouth bleeding: it’s a sensory delight. Darla grinds down into Dru’s face at the sight, gasping as long nails pinch her thighs.
There’s nothing like these moments, she queening and Angelus fucking, sharing Angelus’ delight in their screams. They’re when she knows that despite the squalor of her lifetime, she has become a queen.
Of course, every queen needs another monarch at her side – a partner in dominion.
She smiles, lips ruby-red, and leans down to Dru for a kiss.
***
Giles/Spike – Full English Breakfast
Traditionally, apres-sex food is fluffy and light; Giles has a confused idea of feeding your adored one profiteroles, or ice cream. That seems messy and likely to stain the sheets, but Spike does that already: he comes profusely under Giles’ skilful touch, howling into the pillows so that Mrs Dalloway next door is always giving Giles filthy looks, and lets Giles fuck him until he bleeds. Really there’s no reason not to eat silly, sweet food that they could lick off each other.
But instead, the homesick Englishmen settle down with Blackadder and open a can of baked beans.
***
Riley/Spike – Anarchy In The USA
Back in basic training, they had the same mottos shouted at them over and over. Overcome, You Will Succeed, Be The Best. He supposes it worked, since he’s certain he can do this. Though Spike’s been recaptured and Riley’s lost his clearance, he knows beyond doubt that he’ll rescue him.
He hums that song that Spike, silly vamp that he is, thinks constitutes a proper afterglow soundtrack. He’s getting to like it himself: buying the collector’s edition CD had got Riley a beaming smile and an upturned arse.
Besides, it seems like their theme song: the antichrist and the anarchist.
***
Gunn/Fred – It Makes A Crazy Man Sing
“I can show you the world, shining, shimmering, splendid...”
Gunn jogs up the stairs to Fred’s room, taking them two at a time. She probably knows he’s here, but hasn’t met him in the lobby: why risk getting roped into filing for Cordelia? At the sound of her sweet, raspy voice, he stops and smiles.
She lost so much of her life; nachos weren’t half of it. There’s an unexpected appeal in helping her rediscover popular culture. Disney movies. KFC. Music.
He heads for her room, singing quietly to himself. “The healing power, it makes a strong man stronger...”
***
Wesley/Lilah – To Do What Must Be Done
He talks sometimes as if they have nothing in common. They both know that they share experiences, character traits, and on darker days Wesley acknowledges this. The intelligence; the cunning; the attraction to the dark side that attracts them to each other.
What connects them most, though, is that they can be merciless. Watchers are not simply taught obscure classifying systems at their Academy: they learn to make the hard choices. Wolfram and Hart teaches its proteges the same merciless ideology.
The mission is what matters.
With this in mind, Lilah abandons the afterglow and heads back to the office.
***
Gunn/Spike – Getting Head – Uh, Smarts
Gunn’s always been clever: was smart enough to lead his team against the vamps. But now he can prove it, and he can’t deny the exhilaration of winning in court. Of being the alpha male.
It’s what he always was in Angel’s absence. Now Angel’s abandoning for the streets, and Gunn’s fighting there again – so that Angel’s other abandoned responsibility, the one Gunn is very happy to look after, won’t be alone.
Spike falls to his knees and Gunn groans. Spike’s eyes are closed, his face adoring, his mouth obscenely wet –
Yeah, Gunn’s okay with doingSpike this for Angel.

Date: 2009-01-20 11:52 pm (UTC)May I take this oppurtunity to apologise for the fact that nobody spanked Spike? Fluffy Giles/Spike, it's just a travesty. :D
:DD And yay, you liked the Spike/Riley! I was v happy when the first line of that song sort of clicked in my head, so yes. Bad (quirky, clever! *glows*) puns forever!

Date: 2009-02-09 02:33 am (UTC)What is this thing you're saying? I don't understand!
And I can see what you mean about Gunn, but I totally think it can be argued - we see Gunn wanting Fred and Gwen, but there is always room for bisexuality. :) And now I'm all fired up to write Gunn/Spike!
And I shall tell no one of your Fred/Gunn secret. Mum's the word.
