So, I won't be writing for

hd_holidays after all. The mods rescinded my assignment because I've bailed on too many fests. Which is totally fair and my own fault, so I'm not annoyed at all. But of course this being my own fault seems to make it worse rather than better.

I feel kind of stupid for being this upset. But I am :( I was really excited when I got my assignment and already emailing people and making notes and trying to fit the porny idea with the plotty idea. And then there was a new email :((

Oh well. At least there's always reading and seeing the art, which is always so good. And I'm going to keep the file with my fic idea. I really do like the idea, so I might go back to it in a bit when I feel less squished.

Now I must go and leave some prompts at

mini_fest. The winter fest season goes on!! And hey, I've always wanted to write for Kinky Kristmas over at

daily_deviant, and now I won't have fest fic to worry about so I can sign up! *stiffens upper lip*

PS: apologies for the emo. But I thought I really had to post considering I already told you all I was doing hols! And I am too headachey and emo for the dignified approach.

Soon I will feel better: using Thor!angst as my icon is a calculated decision, because Chris Hemsworth's face just makes me want to smile.

Sorry if they had that much concern over drop outs they shouldn't have offered in the first place, not suddenly decide to rescind your offer. That's just mean.

Hmmm. Perhaps it simply isn't working as a prompted gift fest even though it did in the past. I know it was ridiculously hard last year for you guys. If it's critical that it's a gift fest, perhaps people could submit to the lottery, get accepted, and then you post an anon prompt list, and have a live claiming party by the participants, set to begin at a randomly drawn hour. At any rate, organizing it in a way that leads to you doing that running around work you mentioned, or resulting in this craziness of accepting a participant and then rescinding when someone complains about her, is just...I can't believe it has to be done this way.

It doesn't sound like the problem is lok's fault, but that she was accepted and then it was rescinded because someone complained. It would have been disappointing to not be accepted on past history, but a huge part of her sadness was embarrassment of having to explain to her flist why she is not doing something she posted joyfully about doing.

There are other ways of running writing fests that don't exclude or exile people like this, or toy with them like this, or compelling them to hand-wring and apologize all the time. h/d is increasingly becoming a place for a different kind of person than me.

Lokifan worded it this way herself and I said I understood that that would make it worse. I don't see what is wrong with that?

One can agree or disagree with the mods decision, but taking the feelings Lokifan herself has expressed seriously and confirming them has nothing to do with how the hols is being modded or my feelings about that.

Look, Nenne, I am feeling a bit of an avalanche of frustration about the rules and consequences and overall toppy way so much is run in h/d. Didn't mean for you to take the blame. Your words, confirming the was she blamed herself, made it seem you really concur that it's her own fault. And I just don't think it is. Perhaps I disagree with both you and Lok about that!!

Late reply! But... yeah. I don't know, the situation with H/D in general is kind of hierarchical which isn't good; but I have a lot of sympathy for the mods' frustration. (I do, however, think that since I can accept being kicked out and embarrassed because it's part of the rules, they can accept people asking for re-assignments - that's allowed in the rules, too.)

But they didn't make me hand-wring or apologise, or anything. And it was my own fault, I think: I mean, there's room for improvement with how hd_hols is run, but I wouldn't have got de-invited without fucking up badly.
