Dearest flist, I have a confession to make.
I’ve been seeing another fandom.
It’s called White Collar, and the first series ended recently. I got through all fourteen episodes in a weekend. (Sorry, Merlin fans! But I love a different love for this programme.) It has excellent women and hot men and nobody is stupid to make the plot go! And the central relationship is canonically, if implicitly, dom/sub. Let me tell you all about it.
It’s about an FBI agent named Peter Burke and a conman named Neal Caffrey. (The writers enjoy puns. Peter is a berk, and Neal’s a sub. Blatantly.) They used to be professional adversaries, natch, then Peter caught Neal. With three months to go on his four-year sentence, he escapes prison to go after his lover, Kate – only she’s already disappeared.
Neal, to avoid prison, starts working for the FBI’s White Collar Crime unit as a consultant, under Peter. He has a tracking anklet on all the time that Peter uses to track his movements.
And Peter is really hot, with this lovely crooked grin, and Neal is gorgeous and has extremely blue eyes. And Peter makes Neal show him the anklet right out of the prison gate, and Neal shows him so Peter can enjoy his new toy.
Peter never abuses the power he has over Neal, which is lovely; but he does give orders all the time. And so far, Neal has never disobeyed a direct order. It’s not very obvious, but if Peter tells Neal to sit, he sits. Peter will push Neal through doors to make him go faster and Neal doesn’t protest, he just speeds up. It’s hot and awesome and also, Peter is married.
Married to a smoking hottie named El (who is also pretty, intelligent and dark-haired with very blue eyes, because Peter has a type). She’s cool and fun and she has her own business, and she and Neal get on really well. I love El, particularly since she has a subtler brand of dominance and the OT3 of fandom is as big or bigger than Peter/Neal. Neal has always needed a Sir and Madam like them. :DDD
And there’s this again, extremely hot older woman named June, and Neal’s criminal friend Mozzie, and the junior agents Cruz and Jones. The minor characters are so much fun and I love them heartily. Mozzie is all paranoid about big government and his interactions with Peter and El make me LOL, and June is fantastic – she’s Neal’s landlady, and her husband was a criminal too. I love her hard and one day soon I will write June/Neal. In the pilot, there’s this funny, cool lesbian named Diana (also black/mixed race, I’m not sure, and OMG SO HOT. SO HOT). And she returns in the series finale! And she is awesome! And doesn’t die!
AND THE TWO MAIN ACTORS DID A BLOGTV SHOW AND THEY TALK ABOUT HOW BIG PETER’S GUN IS. AND HOW THEY HAVE NAMED THE ANKLET ‘CANDY’.
